ASTM A240 Type 347H Plate is recognised for excellent resistance to intergranular corrosion after exposure to temperatures in the chromium carbide precipitation range of 800°F to 1500°F (427°C to 816°C). Additions of columbium and tantalum stabilise the SS 347H Plate.

Applications of 347H stainless steel plate include high temperatures in pressure vessels and welded constructions. It is usually delivered in an annealed condition and is called O. The material in the AISI grade has the number AISI 347H. The number for this material in the EN grade is 1.4912, and the UNS number is S34709. The EN grade number X7CrNiNb18-10 and the BS number 347S49 are also used.
